Castle Rock Diletti Pinot Noir 2023

$52.00

One of Western Australia’s finest pinot noirs, the 2023 Diletti is the best we have tasted. Whole bunches are on the rise at 78% (such a precise number!) lending baking spices, fennel and a gorgeous silken flow. Savoury and spicy, with lovely tangy fruit and buoyant acidity bringing great vigour and energy. Medium bodied, yet with terrific flavour intensity, the silky, sappy palate finishing firm and al dente. Wonderful value. Norris at Waters Wine Co

This sees a higher loading of whole bunches into the ferment (78%) with some carbonic maceration occurring too. This is succulent, fine and frisky pinot noir, sour cherry laced with distinct and fragrant alpine herbs, white pepper, cinnamon notes, some oyster sauce and light gingery elements lending complexity and exotica. It’s got lashings of flavour despite its slender frame, a huge drinkability and immediate charm. A sleekness here as well – compact and long. It feels like it will unfurl with cellar maturation beautifully too. Wonderful, if not one of the best pinots to emerge from Western Australia. 96 Points, Halliday Wine Companion

This is a completely engaging example of Porongurup Pinot Noir in the hands of a master winemaker. After the fruit was handpicked it underwent carbonic maceration with cold soaking and the old foot stomping technique was used before 10 months in oak. Seductive aromas of strawberry and darker plum with a savoury edge. The silky-smooth palate delivers a combination of power and drive presented with elegance and poise. 96 Points, Ray Jordan, Wine Pilot
