Pipan Steel Tesoro Nebbiolo 2017

Tasted alongside the 2018, it’s striking to taste the sites DNA, despite the different seasons and subtly different approach to winemaking. A coolish vintage, wet and humid, so extremely difficult for wine growers, but excellent conditions for Nebbiolo. Very classically styled and reminiscent of Barolo/Barbaresco 20 years ago; translucent and with a russet tinge. Lovely, pretty florals, herbal, with red and black fruits orange rind, licorice and cola. Fascinating structure, shape and texture, utterly Nebbiolo. On the one hand it’s bright, open and round, and on the other, tight, coiled and textured velvet. Alongside Traviarti, Australia’s finest producer of Nebbiolo. Waters Wine Co
