For us, this is the easiest wine to drink now. Predominantly red fruits, flowers and very pretty. There is such an easy way about this wine that one can forget how serious it is. The palate is even and integrated, everything in its place. Red fruits, a touch of blueberry, thyme and coal smoke. The tannins are so soft and cashmere like. Persistent and framing but perfectly balanced and threaded into the fabric of the wine. Waters Wine Co
The 2022 Fleurie has a beautifully defined nose with wonderful mineralité like Foillard’s other cuvées, surfeited with energy. There’s real purity and panache. The palate is medium-bodied with a touch of mulberry on the entry and fine depth, lightly spiced with a vibrant and persistent finish tinged with curry leaf. This is a Fleurie from the top drawer. Excellent. 2026 – 2036. 92 Points – Vinous
100% Gamay from vines planted on soils of pink granitic sand. Jean has farmed organically from the beginning but has never sought certification. As for the rest, it’s tradition at work: harvesting by hand, vinification of whole bunches, cold carbonic maceration, 9 months of maturation in barrels that have seen several wines, no filtration, and just a light dose of sulphites during racking.

Bouland’s Morgon Bellevue Cailloux 2019 is made exactly the same way as all of the Bouland wines: natural, whole-bunch ferment, concrete tank/foudre élevage and no fining. This is fascinating to compare directly with the Sable (sand) cuvée. Here, there’s more plum and blackcurrant depths, and also a smoky, hot-rocks kind of mineral profile. Long and strong, […]
Add to cart Producer: Daniel BoulandThe gamay was grafted onto own rooted cabernet vines, which were planted in 1999. The soil is black cracking clay soil, with a mixture of submerged volcanic pebbles and boulders at one end, and a more friable and slightly more vigorous chocolate-coloured soil at the other. The first fruit was picked during the 2014 vintage. […]
Add to cart Producer: Farr RisingPre-arrival due August Prüm’s 2015 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese is clear, intense and flinty on the nose, very precise but well concentrated; however, it is the most reductive of the Spätlese quartet. Round and piquant, with a stimulating fruit and salinity, this is a very well-defined, crystalline and straight Spätlese of great finesse and elegance. It […]
Add to cart Producer: JJ PrumAt first quite closed, this has a whole spectrum of citric aromas that slowly open up. Notes of lychee and mangosteen, too. Then comes the wide-screen palate that’s packed with ripe fruit, but still quite tight on the long, very precise finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but better from 2022. 93 Points – […]
