Cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, malbec and petit verdot; matured for 15 months in French oak (45% new). Superb colour, the bouquet a wondrously complex mix of cassis, earth, tapenade and black olive, all fused into a magically woven palate with tightly furled tannins. 98 Points, Halliday’s Top 100 Wines of 2021
87% Cabernet sauvignon, with 7/3/2/1% merlot/cabernet franc/malbec/petit verdot. Matured for 15 months in barrique, 45% new. Cassis and red licorice on the nose, bay and salt bush, too. The palate is salty and fine with layers upon layers of spice and texture. The tannins are like finely textured gills, stacked as delicately as the folds in a mushroom. The length of flavour unfurls and extends across the palate, taking so long to fade that this entire tasting note is possible off one sip. The rest are just for pleasure. Drink it now, or in 40+ years from now… both will be possible. 98 Points, Erin Larkin, Halliday Wine Companion 2022

There aren’t too many truly distinct wines in Australia, made from classical varieties, but Josh Cooper’s cabernet based wines from Victoria taste like no others. Super complex aromatics of cassis, blackberry, mulberry, tobacco, soy, lavender and hints of red fruits. Pure translucent and mineral. Medium bodied, some cola, black olive, gooseberry and a compote of […]
Add to cart Producer: Joshua CooperClassic. Notes of blackcurrant, cherry, plum, oyster shell, mint, quality oak, violets and tobacco. Medium bodied and firm, like the shiraz, this is savoury, the tannins really adding flavour and structure, defining the wine. Old school claret of the left bank. Huge potential. Waters Wine Co Still very much in its infancy, this feels […]
Add to cart Producer: CraigleeRob knows a thing or two about cabernet, most likely, I’m guessing, from his days at Mount Mary. A brilliant, crimson purple, this fragrant wine leaps out of the glass with its bouquet of cassis, liqueur cherries, cedar, violets and just a soupçon of fresh tomato leaf. Medium bodied, this juicy-fruited wine is impeccably balanced […]
Add to cart Producer: Rob HallI am forever surprised at the lack of support for Cabernet Sauvignon and cabernet blends, particularly when I am lucky enough to sample Josh Coopers wonderful wines. Not as edgy or angular as his later released wines, this nonetheless has some wonderful rough hewn tannins and a back lift of bright acidity. Blackcurrant, plum, cherry, […]
