As close to perfection as you could possibly hope for. Refined, bracing Auslsen, obviously sweet, but it’s the acidity and the ‘coolness’ that’s astonishing. Elements of green snake (the lolly!), spearmint, white peach, lime, cumquat and lychee, cut through by passionfruit. Most Goldcaps are more obviously sweet and silken in texture, but the chisel here is unique. Wonderful expression from one of Germany’s grandest estates and in comparison with its peers, an absolute bargain. Waters Wine Co
