Single-vintage tawny from the 2003 vintage, shiraz fortified with brandy spirit and laid down for oxidative aging in old hogsheads. I can sit down and sniff this all day. It constantly shifts, like watching the light and clouds move from a mountain viewpoint. Caramelised dried citrus fruits and rind, rancio, espresso, candied hazelnuts, mahogany, grilled figs sprinkled with brown sugar, praline, layered wood spice, toffee apple, salted caramel, pipe tobacco, brandy snaps and leather. Fresh, viscous and unctuously sweet it unfurls across the palate in slow motion, endlessly complex and rumbles off just as slowly, spice, died fruit and woody tones in its wake. 98 Points – Halliday Wine Companion

Seppeltsfield’s beautiful Rare Tawny sports an average age of 15 years, grenache/shiraz/mourvèdre chosen for their richness and complexity and balanced out with the addition of Rich Rare Apera (Oloroso). Brandied fruits and soaked sultanas and raisins, Christmas cake, polished leather, caramelised citrus rind, wood spice, salted caramel, rancio figs grilled with brown sugar, mahogany and […]
Add to cart Producer: SeppeltsfieldIt’s an intense wine, with floral notes and blackcurrant/cassis and a powerful and attractive aroma resulting from the predominance of Touriga Nacional, combined with Alicante Bouschet. The presence of Touriga Franca and Sousão adds complexity and spices. This Vesuvius is full-bodied, with long, firm tannins and a powerful palate. It will age beautifully for decades. […]
Add to cart Producer: Quinta Do VesuvioFrom a tiny 0.50ha plot of vines planted in 1998 with a south-east exposure located near the top of the hill of Grand cru’s. (from a .50 ha parcel of vines on the ‘sunny’ side that were replanted in 1998; vinified in stainless but with the élevage in older wood). This is also aromatically […]
Add to cart Producer: Christian MoreauOn this second look, this Fonseca is still remarkably expressive, lifted and gloriously fresh, even with that slight closing. It has reasonable mid-palate concentration but even better intensity of flavor. Despite that intensity of flavor, it is not quite as sexy as it is in some years, at least not yet, as the tannins are […]
