The 2015 Les Jardins de Babylone is simply outstanding; layered and pulpy with ripe stone fruit shot through with crystalline grapefruit and orange rind freshness. Deep and yet somehow delicate and fresh, it is both a wine that will live for decades but a wonderful drink now! A release that easily justifies the claim, often made, that this is one of the world’s great sweet wines.
Made in tiny quantities from ridiculously low yields of 100% Petit Manseng, this offers all the purity and precision of Dagueneau’s greatest wines. The pricing reflects the costs of making the wine (via a berry-by-berry selection despite the fact that no botrytis is involved here). To arrive there, Didier previously claimed he simply totalled up the cost of the project each year and divided it by the number of bottles made. Sounds logical enough! The low yields and the warmth of the site means Les Jardins de Babylone can be picked as early as late October; a full month before the grapes for conventional Jurançon moelleux are picked. Even so, the wine usually ends up with approximately 125g/L residual sugar, perfectly balanced by mouth-watering, tangy acidity, rendering a wine with fabulous verve and drive.

55/45% pinot noir/chardonnay. The base vintage is 2018 with reserve wines added; 40 months on lees. Disgorged October, 2021. 8g/L dosage. A finely beaded, salmon-pink sparkling that rates among Australia’s best. Confidently presented with complexity and poise, Altair wears a delicate sheen of savoury autolysis with almonds, baked pastry, poached pear, bright red berries aromas. […]
Add to cartBeautiful pinot noir from Castle Rock, tasted alongside several older vintages, affirming their great aging potential. A difficult hot year 2023, it’s had to believe that such as pure, supple and translucent wine could be forged from such difficulty. Medium bodied, with the black and hedge fruits mashed with licorice, mace, fennel, pink peppercorns and […]
Add to cartAs always, Bondar’s Violet Hour Shiraz is handpicked from the Rayner vineyard. A blend of block vines, both young and old (some up to 70 years old). Wild fermented naturally with a high portion of whole-bunches and matured in older French oak (no new barrels were used this year). The wine spent six months resting […]

Super bright palate, juicy, with gentle spice, refreshing acidity, silky mouthfeel and a squeeze of powdery tannins. Utterly drinkable, versatile and there’s a serious side too. Absolute bargain.
