I have never tasted a riesling to match the intensity of Saar, until this encounter with Rippon’s 2019 Lola. We were lucky enough to have the better part of a bottle, which we drank over three days. Never for a moment did the wine loose a skerrick of it’s power or titanic fruit. Aromatic, with blackcurrant, aniseed, jasmine, mint, orange blossom, grapefruit, lime preserve and lime zest. Breathtaking palate power, mineral, subtly textured, tangy and intense. Very pure, deep, concentrated and generous. Green apple, mint, sage, custard, green mango, yellow grapefruit and citrus zest. New Zealand’s answer to the Saar, and what an answer – massive, towering, imperious. What a wine. Waters Wine Co
This is very dry and intense with sliced melon, stone and chalk. Medium to full body, round and very creamy. Superb depth and length. Special bottling. No sulfur. 64 dozen bottles made. 96 Points – James Suckling
