Hereafter Here is what Chris Alheit calls a “young vineyard wine” although it contains older material from the Paardeberg and Tygerberg too. Blended with a splash of Semillon from Franschhoek, it’s a total bargain in the range, with a nice interplay of lees, beeswax and granite-derived structure and a touch of flinty reduction. 2024-29’ – 94 points, Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2024
Hereafter Here is a young vineyard wine. The great thing about planting young vines is that you can choose the site and the material purely for the sake of quality wine. Some of our favourite growers have already planted new vines, as will we on our own farm in the coming years. I find the idea of planting for the future very exciting! Our kids will have nice mature vines to work with. This is also a great space for us to nurture younger parcels that are very good but still too young for Cartology. This vintage contains parcels from the Swartland to Stellenbosch.

The 2021 Hemelrand Vine Garden is one of Chris Alheit’s biggest successes and encapsulates everything great about his wine. The palate has exquisite balance, very cohesive and intense, yet the acidity keeps this so fresh with […]

It’s worth tucking a few bottles of this flagship white away for a while as it improves with age. Chenin Blanc based with a supporting cast of 14% Clairette Blanche and 6% each of Garnacha Blanca, Semillon Gris and Viognier, it has masses of focus and extract, texture from 60% malolactic, pear, quince and white […]

A small amount of Aligote from vines located in the Hautes Cotes (95% of this comes from 30-80 year old vines in the village of Villers-la-Faye above Corgoloin and 5% from vines in Nuits St Georges planted in 2011). This bright pure white makes a brilliant addition to the Cathiard range, and what a great […]

Despite the floral nature of these two Alsatian varieties, they complement and contrast each other brilliantly. The white blossom aromas of the Muscat provide a base line and the rose and lychee of the Gewürz sit on top to create exotic layers of fruit, spice and flowers. But this is not a sweet wine, and […]
