If there’s a better chardonnay in Australia I have not tasted it. A wine that is elevated beyond the usual descriptors of style, fad or fashion, the GC is in it’s own right one of the country’s most absorbing and delicious wine, of any variety. Immensely complex with spring Jasmine, Victoria plum, white cherry, grapefruit, apricot, rock melon, yellow peach, subtle oak, condensed milk, quince, fig and fresh herbed bread crumbs. Rich and succulent, supremely elegant, with incredible lanolin, fluffy fat and flesh on the mid palate, tensioned by a salty tang and the freshest, purest fruit. Nothing is overdone, all the elements are balanced and showing strength, offer an equality of tension. That word tension again, reserved for only the greatest wines. Incomparable. Waters Wine Co
Light-mid yellow, bright, with complex aromas of bread crust, buttery croissant, oat biscuit and creamy lees nuances, the palate fresh and bright, intense and alive with lemon juice, lemon zest flavours—quite tight and reserved with a dry finish and tension that suggests it will build more complexity and richness with time. It’s already an outstanding chardonnay of great flavour and refinement. 98 points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review
The GC Chardonnay (Gary Charles) is attributed to all the knowledge we have been able to extract from Gary to create a close planted/high density Chardonnay on an exposed côte. These hillsides facing North, North East and East will be the backbone of the Farr dynasty for decades to come. They consist of the most suitable clones, rootstocks, trellising and management you will find for our landscape. This is our tribute to what ‘Gazza’ has achieved and provoked over 40 years, not only in our region, but for the chardonnay and pinot noir of Australia.
Without a doubt, this is one of the great examples from this vineyard. Germain’s youngest vines here are 35 years old, and he has six parcels across the lower and upper (dessous and dessus) parts. Having said that, most of Germain’s vines are at the top of the climat, abutting the Puligny Premier Crus. This may be why certain […]
Add to cart Producer: Henri GermainLight straw colour with a reserved lemon/grapefruit aroma, fresh and penetrating, the palate brisk and bright with vibrant acidity and intense grapefruit/lemon flavours that persist the full length of the very long palate. Superb vitality and balance. It promises to reward cellaring too. Tremendously concentrated and compact, with extreme drive and massive persistence, it positively […]
Add to cart Producer: Leeuwin EstateEvery wine from Hochkirch sits on a plane of extraordinary quality and great value. Beyond the tension, detail and sensual complexity, is a texturally beautiful, intricate and woven wine, all the threads coming together yet somehow separate. The 2022 Tarrington Vineyards Chardonnay is perfection and I defy anyone who says they don’t like Chardonnay not […]

“Dureuil’s 2020 Rully 1er Cru Meix Cadot is showing brilliantly in bottle, bursting with aromas of lime, crisp Anjou pear, stone fruit, white flowers and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, this is more chiseled and precise than I perceived just after bottling, concluding with an electric finish.” 94 points, William Kelley, The Wine […]
