Tripe Iscariot Karridale Chenin Blanc 2023

The previous vintage put this and its Wilyabrup sibling under the Absolution range, but that name’s been removed from both now – more about the subregion and variety perhaps. Trying the two site-specific chenin blancs side by side offers great insights: this more textural, a bit waxy with pear skins and baked apple, a little custard apple, white pepper and spice. It’s superfine and long thanks to the acidity and texture comes with nougat-like lees. An excellent and different expression to the Wilyabrup. 95 points – Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion
