Our first single Vineyard high density Pinot Noir. First planted in 2011 at a density of just under 7000 vines / hectare and including a mix of clones including 777, Q390-02, Pomard, Able, 115 and MV6. The first release as a standalone wine from this now mature planting. More intense and darker fruited than the Original. Walking a delicate line of power and subtlety but still oh so fine. Both Pinots should age incredibly well. Winemaker’s Notes

Cobaw Ridge Winery was established by Alan and Nelly Cooper in the Macedon Ranges in 1985. It was the first certified organic and biodynamic winery in the region and this is at the heart of the Cooper’s winemaking philosophy – it’s all about the fruit.
The vines are rooted in granitic sandy soil, positioned in a natural amphitheatre 610 metres above sea level. Over the years Alan’s winemaking approach has become more and more minimalist. No cultivation mid row, maintaining the natural grasses by slashing and giving back organic material to the soil.
The vines are rigorously hand-pruned to reduce crop level and ensure quality – vertically trained and managed to enhance fruit exposure to the sun and wind, reduce diseases and promote better, riper fruit.
The grapes are handpicked, destemmed and soft-pressed to ensure full ripe tannins. Hand plunging is used to extract maximum colour and flavour. All wines mature in barriques for 12 to 24 months, with the introduction of 25 to 30% new barriques each year. Not too much new oak so as to let the terrior speak and not the barrel. Sulphur is the only addition.
In Alan’s words, “Everything is done so as to promote and preserve the full integrity of our unique vineyards’ terrior.” These are some of the Macedon’s very best.

From a single vineyard in Yellingbo in the Upper Yarra; 20% whole bunches, 20% new oak. Medium bright crimson. Fragrant and spicy aromas of red and black fruits, rose bush and a touch of allspice. The fruit has thoroughly swallowed up the oak. Medium bodied, with excellent depth and very persistent, fine-grained tannins. Finishes long. […]

This is a beguiling and dreamy wine. Translucent, deep ruby/magenta with a harmonious bouquet of dark, jubey fruit, subtle florals, spicy rolling tobacco and wet stone. The nose certainly promises a lot and the palate delivers in spades. Smooth, soft, full and ripe – red and dark cherries mingle with chalky, ultra-fine tannins with enough […]

The vineyard name, Les Longeroies, probably comes from the French verb longer, which means ‘to border’. This makes sense as Longeroies is on the boundary between Marsannay and the next village of Chenôve. It is one of the star climats of the AOC and has been earmarked for promotion to 1er Cru (when Marsannay finally gets some!). Longeroies faces south, […]

Grapes from seven different vineyards spread across Shaw’s Ridge, Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge and Elandskloof. Approximately 50% whole-bunch fermentation. Matured in mainly older 228-litre barrels. Enticing aromatics of red and black cherry, orange, floral perfume, fynbos, earth and white pepper. The palate shows juicy fruit, big acidity and pleasantly grippy tannins. Remarkably deft, particularly given the sizeable […]
