The second release of this wine for us, the 2022 Deda is a composition of 79% Rousanne and 21% Marsanne. Fuller bodied than the 2021 on account of the greater proportion of Rousanne and warmer vintage conditions. Dark in colour and exotic with yellow peach, pawpaw, winter honey and pear. Rich, mouth-filling and creamy, Igor’s signature spiciness really drives the finish, the acidity buoyant and cleansing. A masterclass for this style, no oiliness, fat or undue richness, crafted into harmony and not tipping over into stylistic generalities. Rich seafood options, roast chicken/turkey and cooked prawns and bitter vegetable dishes. 1341 bottles only. Waters Wine Co
Pale straw to golden in colour, with omnipresent aromas of pear, lychee, yellow peach, and honey, yet at a level above 2021 vintage. And evidently more complex, rounded, and exuberant on the nose. Hints of nuttiness, think macadamia. Voluptuous mouthfeel with smooth, creamy texture, and just enough acidity to keep everything in balance. A tad brighter and more vibrant, longer lasting finish comparing to the predecessor. A versatile, generous wine that can be perfectly enjoyed on its own, although it will truly shine when paired with the right food. Winemaker’s Notes
