Lifted lime citrus aromas, the palate is seamless – showing the typical powerful fruit core, balanced by the wine’s texture and soft acid profile. The length and power of fruit on the palate is what sets this year’s Vat 1 apart from other recent vintages. A classic in the making, akin to the legendary 2005 and 2009 vintages.
Sourced from predominantly the Short Flat Vineyard, with a small percentage from neighbouring De Beyers. These two iconic vineyards both feature ideal sandy, well-drained soils. Vines planted on their own roots and dry grown, the oldest planted in 1923. The grapes were hand-picked then, after a relatively cool fermentation, the wine spent minimal time on yeast lees before being bottled early to maintain its freshness. No oak fermentation or maturation.

Producer: Tyrrell'sPre-arrival due August Prüm’s 2015 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese is clear, intense and flinty on the nose, very precise but well concentrated; however, it is the most reductive of the Spätlese quartet. Round and piquant, with a stimulating fruit and salinity, this is a very well-defined, crystalline and straight Spätlese of great finesse and elegance. It […]
Add to cart Producer: JJ PrumSensual and suave, with flavours I haven’t found in a Vat 1 before. Just when I thought I knew what to expect! Preserved lime, fresh lemon, cream, kiwifruit, gardenia and honeysuckle. Subtle and very young. This seems quite open, but I feel this will shut down soon and be the better for it. A wonderful […]
Add to cart Producer: Tyrrell'sThe 2017 Vat 6 Tyrrell’s Pinot Noir is gorgeous. It’s nervy and has that fabulous angular structure unique to Tyrrell’s. There is a complexity of flavour that I have not yet seen from this wine. Raspberry, strawberry and cranberry with hints of porcini mushroom and cured meat. There are also wonderful hints of oak spice […]
Add to cart Producer: Tyrrell'sThe lieux-dit of Les Chevalieres is situated above the village of Meursault. Above is the lieux-dit of Les Luchets, which produces a higher toned, more tensile wine. I can’t help but think that this is ideally situated, in a sense, mid-slope, the perfect aspect in Burgundy. Impossibly complex, with notes of white flowers, lemon, lime, […]
