Lifted lime citrus aromas, the palate is seamless – showing the typical powerful fruit core, balanced by the wine’s texture and soft acid profile. The length and power of fruit on the palate is what sets this year’s Vat 1 apart from other recent vintages. A classic in the making, akin to the legendary 2005 and 2009 vintages.
Sourced from predominantly the Short Flat Vineyard, with a small percentage from neighbouring De Beyers. These two iconic vineyards both feature ideal sandy, well-drained soils. Vines planted on their own roots and dry grown, the oldest planted in 1923. The grapes were hand-picked then, after a relatively cool fermentation, the wine spent minimal time on yeast lees before being bottled early to maintain its freshness. No oak fermentation or maturation.

Producer: Tyrrell'sAt first quite closed, this has a whole spectrum of citric aromas that slowly open up. Notes of lychee and mangosteen, too. Then comes the wide-screen palate that’s packed with ripe fruit, but still quite tight on the long, very precise finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but better from 2022. 93 Points – […]
Add to cart Producer: WeinbachThe 2015 Les Jardins de Babylone is simply outstanding; layered and pulpy with ripe stone fruit shot through with crystalline grapefruit and orange rind freshness. Deep and yet somehow delicate and fresh, it is both a wine that will live for decades but a wonderful drink now! A release that easily justifies the claim, often […]
Add to cart Producer: Didier DagueneauVery expressive with lime, butter, nettles, lemons, gardenia and grapefruit. This is very, very easy to drink. Plush and full, with incredible mid-palate flesh and lanolin texture. Pulp, round in shape, without ever losing focus or line. When tasting, very similar to Tyrrells’ Johnno’s Basket Pressed Semillon, and I understand the winemaking is very similar. […]
Add to cartThe Cavallotto 2018 Barolo Bricco Boschis (a certified organic wine) is a lovely expression with fruit from one of the most beautiful sites in Castiglione Falletto, measuring 7.3 hectares. The wine is streamlined and tight with forest berry, blackcurrant and spice. It is taut and silky, showing fruit that has been shaped by cool nights […]
