Lifted lime citrus aromas, the palate is seamless – showing the typical powerful fruit core, balanced by the wine’s texture and soft acid profile. The length and power of fruit on the palate is what sets this year’s Vat 1 apart from other recent vintages. A classic in the making, akin to the legendary 2005 and 2009 vintages.
Sourced from predominantly the Short Flat Vineyard, with a small percentage from neighbouring De Beyers. These two iconic vineyards both feature ideal sandy, well-drained soils. Vines planted on their own roots and dry grown, the oldest planted in 1923. The grapes were hand-picked then, after a relatively cool fermentation, the wine spent minimal time on yeast lees before being bottled early to maintain its freshness. No oak fermentation or maturation.

Producer: Tyrrell'sThe 2017 Old Hut Shiraz has an enticing nose of dark berry fruits and lifted spice. It’s a dense, more brooding style of Shiraz compared to the Tyrrell’s 4 Acres. Yet it still shows the pedigree of its lineage with superb balance and length. The Old Hut vineyard was planted in 2003 with cuttings taken […]
Add to cartVery expressive with lime, butter, nettles, lemons, gardenia and grapefruit. This is very, very easy to drink. Plush and full, with incredible mid-palate flesh and lanolin texture. Pulp, round in shape, without ever losing focus or line. When tasting, very similar to Tyrrells’ Johnno’s Basket Pressed Semillon, and I understand the winemaking is very similar. […]
Add to cart2022 is another great Hunter vintage. Fleshy, citrus fruit – lemon zest and juicy lime. Classic Hunter Semillon with a softer edge, making this an earlier drinking beauty but one that will still cellar for a decade or more. Waters Wine Co Sourced from a small selection of Tyrrells’ favourite Semillon blocks, the grapes […]
Add to cart Producer: Tyrrell'sAromas of citrus blossom, dried apricot and fresh fig transfer to the palate, where notes of freshly brewed coffee and toffee round out the complex flavor. This wine has lovely mouthfeel, with roundness on the palate and just the right amount of acidity to prevent this caramel-colored Eszencia from being too cloying. 97 points, Jeff […]
