The 2018 Meltwater Sauvignon Blanc is absolutely delicious. From a single vineyard in the southern foothills of the Wairau Valley. Hand picked and wild fermented and left on it’s lees for eight months. Beautiful aromatics of passionfruit, citrus and crushed herbs. Loads of energy on the palate. Textured, pulpy with abundant ripe lime, grapefruit and kiwifruit. Intense and refreshing. A benchmark for the style.
Meltwater is the new ‘entry level’ range from that outstanding Marlborough producer, Corofin. The fruit came from a sustainably farmed vineyard in the southern foothills of the Wairau Valley. Hand harvested into small bins and indigenous yeast fermentation occurred in tank. The wine was fermented to dryness then aged on lees for six to eight months over winter. Racked and allowed to settle prior to bottling in February 2019.
