This is 100% Sauvignon Blanc, currently in cuve, and it is due to be bottled at the end of February or early March. It has a very fresh and expressive nose, with peach and orchard fruits. The palate has a charming presence, rich in fruit but also showing plenty of shimmering acidity. All in all it is charming and bright, with a slightly bitter note too, which is undeniably appealing. A good style here. 90-92 points, Chris Kissak, The Wine Doctor
Revered for his pristine Chenin Blancs from Montlouis and Vouvray, François Chidaine here works his magic on a Sauvignon cropped from vines in Chissay-en-Touraine and Saint-Julien-de-Chédon, less than 10km from Montlouis. The viticulture here is strictly organic and biodynamic and the fruit was naturally fermented with a high degree of solids before maturation on lees until bottling. The 2019 is a brilliant vintage for this cuvée. It’s a pure, delicious, layered and pulpy Sauvignon, with the fruit clearly picked fully ripe. This brings stone fruits and gentle spice rather than any of the stereotypical characters we often associate with the variety. The depth of flavour is impressive, as is the bright, driven finish. A crazy bargain.
