Two Tonne Tasmania TMV Riesling 2020

No escaping the purity and clarity of texture and flavour of Two Tonne’s TMV Riesling. Wafting lime, grapefruit and a slight smoky reductivesness. Gorgeously soft texture and palate, with lemony minerals, lime, white peach and cherry. Pure, elegant and flavoursome.

For the 2020, two sites from Tamar contributed: Hillwood and Relbia. Hillwood is further north, a warmer area a bit closer to the ocean. This was blended with two small parcels from Relbia where it is a little cooler, with deep soils and a slightly later ripening. Simple stuff here: all was pressed separately and split into two small ferments (plus a bit on old oak). The ferments were cold and slow, and were pulled up with a lick of residual to balance all that natural acidity. After assemblage it was all left on lees for about six months in total, then bottled in October.
