It’s an interesting style. Textural, slipped with limey fruit sweetness, steely at the same time, perhaps even a touch honeyed, perhaps the pulp of grapefruit. Sherbet-like too, lemon sherbet. Howzat for a combination. It’s a very lovely wine, and has excellent fruit intensity to boot. I’m around the 93-94 mark. 93 Points – Campbell Mattinson, The Winefront
The 2018 Riesling is a blend made from two mature vineyards in the Coal River Valley (50%) and the Huon Valley (50%) harvested at the middle and end of March respectively. The hand-picked fruit was lightly crushed before gentle pressing to tank, with pressings included for structure and flavour. After fermentation, a period of maturation on yeast lees allowed the wine to further develop texture.
The blending together of the powerful Coal River Valley fruit with the finesse and delicacy of the Huon Valley has created a 2018 Shy Susan Riesling with intensity and finesse.
