Schafer-Frohlich Felsenberg Riesling GG 2021

$160.00

Perhaps the most profoundly primal of the Frohlich GG Rieslings, a real statement of the stony, smokey, mineral, herbal, textural and tonic-esque grip. But aside from drama, there’s prettiness, with seasoning nettles, bergamot and clove. Without floral notes, but with a level of refinement that is unsurpassed by its peers. Citrus peel, preserved lime, grapefruit, blood orange and yellow peach, the fruits becoming darker with warmth and aeration. Focused attack, direct, full bodied and pinpoint puckering, it’s like looking through a telescope, then, looking up. Remarkable. Waters Wine Co

96-97 points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): “From porphyry soils, the 2021 Felsenberg GG offers a pure yet intense and elegant, darker toned and flinty bouquet of crushed stones with plummy notes, delicate spices and herbal notes. Full-bodied, pure and fresh on the palate, with fine tannins and ripe and refined acidity, this is a lush and round but finely tannic and aromatic Felsenberg with enormously salinity on the intense and aromatic, crisp and crunchy finish. Tasted as a sample at the domaine in July 2022. Drink: 2022-2050. (Aug 2022)”

93 points Mosel Fine Wines: “AP: 20 22. The 2021er Felsenberg Riesling GG, as it is referred to on the consumer label, offers a captivating smoky and flinty nose of grilled citrus, grapefruit, flint stone, fresh almond, bacon, anise, lime tree, and smoke. The wine is superbly balanced on the light-weighted yet energetic and dynamic palate. It proves straight, focused, and layered in the long and assertive finish. This refined and sharp expression of Felsenberg is superb. 2027-2041. (Aug 2022)”
