Aromas of white flower blossom, sweet spice, ripe limes and green herbaceous notes which are all the good hallmarks of Eden Valley Riesling. The palate is full of ripe citrus, stone fruit and lychees.
It’s taken time but I’ve finally become used to John Hughes’ brand name and label system. Here the Meyer lemon/lemongrass flavours of the Eden Valley are correct, even if they have hints of Hunter Valley Semillon – a dreadful accusation for an SA riesling maker. While each of the 3 dry Rieslingfreak wines in this line-up has its own character, they are difficult to split on points. 95 Points – Halliday Wine Companion 2021
