Fully expressive and enormously complex. Wafts of peach, paw paw, lemon zest, apricots, ash and violets. Juicy and quite full bodied. Earthy, succulent and luxurious. The flavours are vivid and it actually tastes as it smells. Remarkable character and hedonism for this level and price. Waters Wine Co
This is a blend from several western and central Rheingau sites, including Lorch, Eltville, Hattenheim and Kiedrich, most of which reside on loess, clay and quartzite. The vines average 15-20 years of age. The 2019 was fermented in tank, with between six and nine months on lees depending on the vineyard.
“Very bright aromas of red apples, tart peaches, lime zest and lemon balm that fill out the sleek and muscular body beautifully. The very crisp, mineral finish pulls you back into the wine’s tight orbit. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.” 92 points, Stuart Pigott, James Suckling.com
The 2019 Rheingau Riesling Trocken offers a clear, flinty, stunningly intense, ripe and concentrated but refreshing lemony bouquet with delicate flinty aromas. Medium to full-bodied, this is an intense yet frisky, perfectly round and balanced Riesling with ripe, piquant, well-integrated acidity that is not really soft but truly ripe and fine, even playful. In fact, the wine has 8.8 grams per liter of total acidity with 8.9 residual sugar, but that’s just analytics. This is a gorgeous wine with stunning extract yet a moderate 12.2% alcohol.” 91 points, Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
