Faint notes of ripe Mirabelle come with a notions of crushed lemon leaf while a certain citrus headiness makes its way to the pleasure centre of the brain. The palate is bundled and compact, offering continuous bursts of citrus freshness. The effect is both exciting and cooling, invigorating and calming. Drink by 2050. 98 points. Anne Krebiehl MW, Wine Enthusiast March 2021
About 20% of our Heiligenstein vineyards are trained in a Lyre trellis system. The vine bifurcates in a way that the branches seem to reach to the heavens like sun-worshippers. This method doubles canopy exposure and favours aeration which improves photosynthesis and prevents dreaded fungus diseases. Yields are restricted by rigorous thinning and although harvest started late only healthy berries without botrytis were brought in. These techniques result in increasing the quality of grapes to show a similar intensity as those deriving from old vines. We ferment the must in stainless steel at a temperature of 15 to 20° C. After fermentation the wine matures on the lees till bottling in summer. Alcohol 13%; RS dry; acidity 7.3g/L. A deep fragrance of passion fruit, yuzu citrus and peppermint radiates freshness and vitality and yet immediately drives deep. Highly elegant and distinguished, full of fruit charm and esprit, fills the mouth with bright aromas. Focused and complex all the way into the long finish. Extraordinary ageing potential. – Weingut Bründlmayer
Fermented in a ceramic egg and left on lees for ten months. The nose is a combination of dried chamomile and bath salts, with some yuzu and bergamot citrus elements. A juiciness with fruit tingle acidity dominates the palate, backed by a refreshing crunch and wet chalk, almost quinine-like bitterness tidying up the finish. Winemaker’s […]
Add to cartAromatic and open with Gardenia, lemon, saltbush, dried oregano, grapefruit, pawpaw and green mango. Rich and almost full bodied, indeed I’m not sure we’ve ever had a Tasmanian Riesling with such dimensions and depth as this. For all its size and opulent shape, it’s very focused and structured, the richness of fruit tensioned by minerals, […]
Add to cart Producer: MeadowbankCastle Rock is a bastion of high quality, great value Riesling and it’s 2021 A&W Reserve is wonderful. This has far more weight than the estate wine, with a rounder, more ample framework. The fruit spectrum’s different too, with tropical notes such as grapefruit, guava, kiwi fruit and pineapple. Extremely bright fruit and very complex, […]
Add to cartIntense, with all the breadth, power and grandeur we have come to associate with Clemens Busch. Full bodied, with citrus, stone fruits, lemon zest, smoke, nettles a mineral puckering close. Full of dry extract, it’s hard to imagine anyone else getting so much “feel” to the palate, whilst maintaining an astonishing level of clarity. Giant […]
