Michel Lafarge Aligote ‘Raisins Dores’ 2019

$58.00

From vines planted in 1937. This wine is a from a 0.8ha block on deep clay over limestone. Whole bunch pressed into stainless steel for fermentation and then aged 3-6 months in old barriques.

The 2019 Bourgogne Aligoté Raisins Dorés, which was taken from barrel and no concrete tanks as usual because of the small quantity, has a fragrant nose with grapefruit and honeysuckle scents. The palate is well balanced, primal at the moment with a gentle sour lemon and thyme tinged finish. Drink 2021-2024 Tasted Dec 2020. (86-88) points, Neal Martin, Vinous

The Lafarge family concluded their harvest with the 2019 Bourgogne Aligoté Raisins Dorés, a lovely wine bursting with aromas of pear, orange oil, fresh bread and flowers. Vinified entirely in barrel, it’s medium-bodied, lively and concentrated, with bright acids and a fleshy core of fruit. Tasted Jan 2021. 89 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate Jan 2021

An overtly spicy nose speaks primarily of green apple and citrus where the latter element can also be found on the delicious middle weight flavors that possess a lovely texture while exhibiting fine length on the balanced bitter lemon-inflected finale. Very good quality for its level and worth checking out. 88-90 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound Jun 2021

Light green and yellow colour, tight, old fashioned Aligoté, but with enormous weight and density. Length and correct acidity alongside the flesh. Tasted: October 2020. 87-89 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
