In a blog article I wrote recently, I stated that if I had to chose one producer, it would be Keller. The Keller Silvaner Trocken 2018 is a prime example as to why I would make such a statement. Served with Scallops, on a bed of pea and mint puree and blood sausage, the match is perfect. The wine is fragrant, offering up green apple and lemon aromas. The palate is taught with tension. The lemon, green apple and pepper spice are mouth wateringly intense, infused with vigorous acidity and minerals. A perfect combination and a wonderful wine. Waters Wine, June 2019
Keller is synonymous with Riesling but their Silvaner is also amongst the most revered and offers a fabulous alternative. The 2018 has notes of exoticism. Spiced apples, grapefruit, lime, blood orange and dried herbs are infused on a textured palate. Quite full, but with loads of energy and subtle minerality. Fabulous wine offering up incredible complexity at this price. Always sold out at the winery in no time!
