The 2015 Fief du Breil from Jo Landron is a stunning Muscadet. Layered, fleshy (if not served too cold!), complex and earthy with a long, racy and nutty close. A wonderful bargain from one of the Loire’s finest and most respected growers. If you haven’t tried this wine, you must!
“This is Jo Landron’s cru communal type cuvée, which when it is bottled in the next month or two will have seen out an impressive 28 months on the lees. It kicks off with a very expressive nose, with a chalky minerality, the scent of vanilla flowers, and notes of preserved citrus fruits. This is followed by a very elegant palate, showing a rather delicate style, yet full with citrus fruit and white peach flavours. A grippy undercurrent, certainly ripe, with plenty of substance, but nice acidity too, an admirable poise for this vintage.” 92-94 points, Chris Kissack, thewinedoctor.com
