Domaine de Souch’s Monplaisir Sec is pure, ethereal and extraordinarily complex. Apricot, peach, honey, melon and pineapple. The palate is all dancing lightness and yet the wine has immense presence. Neat, discreet and balanced acidity. Delicious and unique.
Grown on clay and limestone soil with puddingstone, “Poudingue” in French. The vineyard is located on the upper reaches of a hilly valley side with a southern exposure, facing the Pyrenees and Pic du Midi d’Ossau. Grapes are hand harvested from 35 year old vines and sorted several times to isolate the best possible quality. The wine is vinified in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh aromatics of the Manseng grapes.
