The 2015 Rully 1er Cru Meix Cadot (which hails from vines planted in 1980 as distinct from the Cuvée Vieilles Vignes) from Vincent Dureuil-Janthial is very fine in 2015, offering up a pretty bouquet of orange blossom, citrus zest, buttered apples and hazelnut. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, its satiny texture underpinned by juicy acidity. 91 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate #236
Le Meix Cadot is the largest of Rully’s 1er Crus and sits on a mini plateau east of the village. Dureuil-Janthial controls 1.71-hectares in a very chalky part of the vineyard, perfect for Chardonnay. This area is enclosed by walls. Again, the soils are clay-limestone and are worked organically. This is wonderful and in keeping with all of this producer’s whites from 2015 (incisive and mineral is the theme!) This has more flesh than the Rully villages, but it remains earthy, rocky and chalky. With some time in bottle it will blossom but it is already a fabulous value white Burgundy.
