One of Tasmania’s most consistent producers, Pooley’s estate chardonnay and pinot noir are as excellent as usual in 2024. This sits very much in the contemporary sphere – aged in barrel and concrete for only 6 months before bottling. Incredibly intense and primal, with an energy and vigorousness almost unmatched in Australian wine. Tangy citrus, lemon, lime and grapefruit, fleshed out by succulent white peach. Subtle cream, cashew and wood spice, but it’s really about the fresh fruit, lasering acidy, minerals and citrus pith. Awesome now, but better in a couple of years. Norris at Waters Wine Co
Fermented in French oak as well as a concrete sphere, the resulting wine is a delightful blend of abundant orchard fruits and crisp acidity, creating an elegant harmony between unwooded and traditional barrel-aged Chardonnay. The wine boasts a refined body and a gentle creaminess that gracefully concludes the palate. Shop ALL Pooley Wines
