This is really, really good for a Bourgogne. Quite full bodied and textured with plenty of dry extract. The fruit is a little hidden at first, but opens up beautifully. With real breadth across the palate with notes of citrus, cream, spice, hay bales and grapefruit. Structured and serious, the finish gripping the palate with force. 10 years of life, to say the least. This is one of the best Bourgogne Blancs, no question.
From vines located in Meursault (40%), Puligny (15%), Chassagne (15%) and also Saint Aubin (30%). Given all the same care in the vineyard as shown to village and Grand cru vineyards and it shows in the final wine with excellent intensity and lift. Likewise in the cellar this is all aged in 350 litre barrels (15-20% of which are new) as Pierre-Yves does for all his wines.
’Made from 4 parcels spread across Meursault, Puligny, Chassagne and St.Aubin – made exactly like all the other wines, just a shorter elevage.
Hmm, this nose is round, a little textured, almost a little reduction. Bright, growing width, a little strictness of agrume and then a broad wave of mouth-watering, practically grapefruit flavour. Long and good!’ Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report, October 2019
