Lacey Vineyard Fiano 2025

Highly aromatic, this wine opens with vibrant notes of Meyer lemon and lime juice, followed by fresh, crisp pear and a hint of Granny Smith apple. Subtle undertones of fennel and white pepper add complexity to the nose. This years Fiano has a lovely textural line with a little lees work and the inclusion of a single oak barrel upping the complexity this year. Flavours of ripe pear and chamomile unfold gracefully, supported by refreshing acidity and a saline, finely structured finish. A brilliant pairing with salt and pepper squid. 12.5% Alc. Vegan friendly. Winemaker’s Notes

Bowyer Ridge Chardonnay 2024

“Combining intensity with thrilling verve is a bit of a trademark here, with all the winemaking tools that make chardonnay so compelling, but each exercised with due restraint. White nectarine, lemon curd and yellow grapefruit are accented with salted praline, roasted hazelnuts and crystallised ginger, the balance of textural sway, fruit intensity, acid verve and fine pithiness are à point, the quiet power of it impressive. Excellent.” 95 Points – Marcus Ellis, Halliday Wine Companion

Marmont Vineyard Grenache 2024

Pale in the glass and engagingly savoury, feeling a little less up-front fruitful than the ’23 at the same stage, but certainly no less for it. More, perhaps. This is savoury, with pressed flowers, dried cranberry, damson and macerated cherries, warm stone, whole spices – fennel seed, clove, cardamom – and a little blood orange note, speaking to flavour and zesty, sour-fruited tension. The tannins, chalky, pithy, sandy and purposeful is a real feature, as is the fine seam of acid. It’s a wine built with a light, thoughtful touch, confident, layered and very engaging. 96 Points – Marcus Ellis, Halliday Wine Companion

Blewitt Springs Grenache Shiraz 2024

60/40% Marmont vineyard grenache/Paralian-owned Springs Hill vineyard shiraz. The most fruit-forward and ‘primal’ barrels are selected for this. This is delightfully upper mid-weight, joyously fragrant and supple, redolent of cherry juice, roses in bloom, musk, sumac, cinnamon, the gently creeping darker fruit and spice of shiraz latterly joining the grenache lead, adding a little growl to the purr. It’s just such a joy to drink, a wine of immense immediate attraction, though it also has a sculpted line of filigreed tannin and vibrant freshness. It’s a beautiful thing. 95 Points – Marcus Ellis, Halliday Wine Companion

Springs Hill Vineyard Shiraz 2024

From ’75 and ’98 plantings on the Springs Hill vineyard. The ’24 Paralian suite, for me, is the finest to date. All killer, as they say … The quiet power in this is something to behold – a wine of gravitas and grace. It comes in a little darker of fruit this year, though not heavy with it. Dried olive, black cherry, violet, blueberry, ground coffee, a certain sultry floral and spicy feel, with an undercurrent of nori and iodine. This is a marvellous expression, with finely tooled tannins and exceptional length. Simply brilliant. 97 Points – Marcus Ellis, Halliday Wine Companion

Springs Hill Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

This may seem like an outlier in the range, but it isn’t. Cabernet Sauvignon is indeed a classic varietal of McLaren Vale and the passion project of Charlie Seppelt. A love of Claret doesn’t mean an aping or copying of Bordeaux and Paralian’s example is simply the best out of the region and of a style that is unique to South Australia. Beautiful aromatics of blueberry, blackcurrant, mint, bay leaf and violets. Rich and plush, full of curve and vigour, with lovely bass notes. Dark fruits, dark chocolate, iodine, compost, tobacco. black olive and cardamon with rich tannins of cashmere and chalk. It’s cabernet alright, but not claret; with a seductive fleshy core of fruit, mineral spices and corseting acid line. One of my favourite wines of 2024. Norris at Waters Wine Co
