First slope of Beaune, next to Clos des Mouches. Top of the slope planted with Chardonnay. Vines aged 37 years. Vertical press so pressing is very slow. Aged on only fine lees. 10% new oak.
‘The 2020 Beaune Clos des Aigrots 1er Cru Blanc, which has been pressed using a vertical pressoir since 2017, has a lively bouquet with citrus peel, dried honey and light spicy aromas. The palate is very taut on the entry, good extract here with yellow fruit, dessicated orange peel and a touch of salinity towards the finish. Modest length. Enjoy over the next 12-15 years. ‘A strong effort from the hillside, the 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Aigrots Blanc evokes notions of citrus zest, crisp yellow orchard fruit, white flowers and toasted almonds. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, its generous mid-palate is girdled by bright acids and chalky structuring extract.
