This 2016 from Maison Leroy is ripe, open and with a pretty nose of white flowers, peach, citrus and honey. There are hints of nutmeg and wet stone too. The texture is honeyed, with plenty of fruit and mineral input. The wine is rich and full-bodied. It has a sense of succulence that continues through to the piquant, mouth-watering finish.
The 2016 vintage was ravaged by frost and the yields were severely reduced. Inevitably, Lalou Bize-Leroy has produced a superb Maison Leroy White Burgundy with this concentrated, succulent fruit.
