Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin Premier Cru En Remilly 2019

$210.00

Sweet spot, Outstanding. “Ripe aromas of citrus confit, spice and mineral reduction slide gracefully into dense and solidly voluminous flavors that also exude a refreshing salinity on the clean and dry finish where a hint of bitter lemon slowly emerges. This will need to develop more depth to merit the top end of my predicted range, but the potential is there.” 91-93 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

“The 2019 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly is showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, peach, white flowers and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it’s textural and enveloping, with an ample, elegantly layered core, lively acids and a long, saline finish.” 92-94 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

“The 2019 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru has a clean, precise bouquet that delivers palpable energy and gains complexity in the glass, evoking memories of clambering over cockles in my seaside hometown, a briny tang in the air. The palate is very well balanced with a sapid entry, lovely weight in the mouth and hints of sour lemon on the finish that get the saliva flowing… again! Have a second bottle handy – you’ll need it. 94 points, Neal Martin, Vinous

En Remilly is one of Lamy’s prestige terroirs—sitting above the Côte de Beaune’s Grand Cru vineyards—and it produces one of his finest and most sought-after wines. Lamy has two hectares in this vineyard (planted in 1989) across two distinct parcels that sit just above the Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru. One of these parcels is quite near to his Clos de la Chatenière vineyard and is a warmer terroir on a loosely knit mix of clay and limestone. The second is a far rockier site on almost pure limestone, directly adjacent to Chevalier. This latter parcel brings a cutting tension to the former’s fleshy, layered fruit. This wine is today a benchmark of white Burgundy.
