Outstanding. “Pretty and very fresh aromas of apple, lemon and petrol give way to intense, detailed and bright flavors that are supported by lemon-tinged acidity on the complex and lingering finish. This Chablis-like effort is excellent for its level.” 87-89 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound
“Bursting with scents of pear, peach, beeswax and white flowers, the 2019 Bourgogne Les Chataigners is medium to full-bodied, round and fleshy, with lively acids and a precise finish. More concentrated than the 2018 but just as dynamic, it’s very promising.” 88-90 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Lamy farms four small parcels on the white limestone soils of Les Chataigners. Tucked up at the far end of the village, this site is Lamy’s highest and coolest vineyard, with vines planted in 1990 and 2008. The fruit was whole-bunch pressed and naturally fermented before being raised in older barrels. Perennially this is one of the côte’s most impressive Bourgogne-level whites and, as the notes below make clear, the 2019 is a first-rate example.
