Domaine Naturaliste Purus Chardonnay 2024

$60.00

Pure as the name implies, but it loses nothing in terms of flavour intensity and power. Malolactic is blocked, so the acid profile is different. It bloody well sizzles. Green apple, grapefruit, lime, white peach, almond meal and a sort of briny quality. A whip crack of a wine, full of tautness and tension, and yet all the elements harmonised for a very long future ahead. Norris at Waters Wine

Flashy, reductive aromas of grapefruit, lime zest, green apples, wet stones, struck match and oyster shells. The palate is tightly wound and precise with driven acidity and a chalky texture, showing lemon pith, white peaches, hazelnuts and flint. Mineral and focused with great tension and length. Drink or hold. Screw cap. 96 points & Top 100 Australian Wines of 2025 – Ryan Montgomery, James Suckling

Whereas the Artus was kinda funky, this one has a precise purity and freshness about it, showing lots of white peach, a little nectarine, citrus, and a sort of lemon curd–brioche combination. The palate has a slight savoury chalky confluence that comes together and then drives with great purpose through to a long finish. This is the most stylish expression of Margaret River chardonnay that captures the awesome power of the fruit from this region. 97 points, Ray Jordan
