A chardonnay lovers chardonnay, and with a twist that can only be defined as unique. There’s a subtle peach skin and flavour that kicks through on the finish. In no way is the wine skinsy or textural, but the hint of peach skin might easily be missed within the swirl of rich, interwoven flavours. Cashew, smoke, flint, white peach, apricot, melon, nougat, lime, mandarin and preserved lemon. No kidding. Complexity rolls onto the palate, luxurious, and for all its abundant freshness; hedonism. Pure, tight and translucent, clotted cream, sage and marjoram. Flavours of yellow and green, herbs, spice and cream. Utterly delicious, one of my favourite Australian chardonnays. Waters Wine Co
From 8 rows on the home block in Piccadilly Valley, 610 metres elevation, North-East facing on clay, schist, gneiss. Handpicked, whole-bunch pressed, wild fermented in tank then 7 months in french oak (30% new). Full solids, some stirring, wild malo and natural acid. Showing a touch more depth of fruit and purity than the Blefari at this stage, with exotic spice aromatics and Macadamia nut complexity. Winemaker’s notes
