Chartogne-Taillet Champagne Brut Rose NV

$110.00

Chartogne’s delicious rosé is based on a similar blend to the Sainte Anne cuvée, without the reserve wine – instead this is purely from vintage 2018. The base was combined with a little Estate red wine from the vineyards of Les Orizeaux and Fontaines de Saint Thierry. Wild fermentation was followed by élevage in barrels of various sizes. It was bottled unfiltered, and dosed with a small 5.5g/L, keeping it beautifully dry

Producer Profile

Alexandre Chartogne is making the finest wines of his career. Mentored by Anselme Selosse, Alexandre places great importance on terroir – employing environmentally friendly practices in the vineyard and reducing dosage to let the fruit do the talking. The family estate encompasses 11 hectares of vineyards in Merfy and the neighbouring villages of Chenay and Saint-Thierry. The majority is ploughed by horse, with no pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilisers used.

All fermentations are wild, and malo is not blocked. Alexandre utilises wooden barrels or demi-muids and lets his wines age longer before release, hence the single-sites are only just released when many other houses are onto their next vintage.
