Eclectic, aromatic and idiosyncratic rose that is 100% pinot noir. Lifted spicy floral perfume, not unlike gewurztraminer, Davidson plums and preserved lemons. Slippery, soft texture giving the impression of sweetness but drying to a long citrus finish. Cool, interesting, off-piste wine. 95 points, Halliday Wine Companion 2020
The fruit is handpicked, sorted and whole bunch pressed. The juice is steeped on its skins for a day before being moved into barrels for wild fermentation. A maturation of six months on lees follows the primary fermentation. A paler, more ochre hue than previous vintages, yet still those telltale aromatics of rose, wild raspberry and pomegranate. The palate is bright, fresh and vibrant with succulent red berry and aniseed before a crunchy finish.
