This 2007 is just the second release of Reserva 10 Años Después. This time around, the Valenciso team (Luis Valentín, Carmen Enciso and Ana Ruiz) selected a small parcel of fruit from a 75 year old vineyard in the north of Haro, which was aged in a single 50 hectolitre concrete tank for five years. The wine was then rested for 40 months in low toast Caucasian oak, the same barrels Valencisco use for their Rioja Blanco. It was bottled in 2017, hence the name ’10 Years After’. To the team’s surprise, the extended ageing in concrete resulted in no loss of colour, nor fruit purity or aromatic expression. Instead, the wine continued to improve, evolving silky depths as the tannins softened over the years. Just 4,000 bottles of this limited edition have been filled.
