The 2016 Macán saw a new vinification by plot with the introduction of their new fermentation room. The Tempranillo came from selected vineyards from their 92 hectares; it fermented in oak vats and matured in 4,000-liter and barriques (50/50) for some 16 months and was kept in bottle for three years before being released. They think this 2016 is finally the style they were looking for, a wine with density and freshness. 2016 was the first year they vinified and aged from start to finish in the new winery, and they believe that gave them better control over the fermentations. 2016 is a year with more freshness than 2015, and they are trying to achieve wines with more tension and less power and oak than in the beginning. This could very well be the finest vintage of Macán so far. Drink: 2020-2028. 94+ Points; Luis Gutiérrez; Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate

Pre-arrival due August Prüm’s 2015 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese is clear, intense and flinty on the nose, very precise but well concentrated; however, it is the most reductive of the Spätlese quartet. Round and piquant, with a stimulating fruit and salinity, this is a very well-defined, crystalline and straight Spätlese of great finesse and elegance. It […]
Add to cart Producer: JJ PrumFascinating deep, dark cherry red colour. Intense, concentrated aromas of blackberry and blueberry fruit, revealing notes of ripe figs and an exquisite smoky, graphite streak. Velvety and flavourful on the palate with fine-grained tannins. Oak ageing endows the wine with fine notes of bitter cocoa and coffee. At 895 metres altitude you can almost touch […]
Add to cart Producer: Torres‘Cordon Cut’ refers to the unusual practice of cutting the canes allowing the grapes to ‘raisin’ naturally on the vine, concentrating flavour and sugar levels. 2020 is another outstanding vintage for Mount Horrocks. The wine is a bright, pale white gold colour with concentrated lemon-lime and vanilla spice. The juicy fruit washes over a vibrant […]
Add to cart Producer: Mount HorrocksThis is arguably the greatest rosé wine of Champagne. Why is it so good? Well, the first reason is that the fruit comes from 100% Grand Cru estate vines grown by one of the most meticulous vignerons in the region. Then there is the five percent of Egly’s 2015 Coteaux Champenois Rouge—the finest red wine […]
