All of Badia a Coltibuono’s Chiantis share the same DNA and it is evident throughout all the wines. Classic, poised and balanced. Certainly the softest, plumpest and fruit driven of the three releases, with less tertiary elements. Red fruits, dried flowers, tobacco and the lovely skinsy Sangiovese tannins that hold it all together. Perfect bistro/restaurant wine. Waters Wine Co
The Badia Coltibuono estate in Gaiole is one of the birthplaces of Chianti and one of the oldest wineries in Europe. The word Badia means ‘Abbey’ and Coltibuono means ‘Good Harvest and as a monastery it produced wine almost 1,000 years ago, with the Stucchi-Prinetti family owning the estate since 1846. One of the first wineries in Chianti Classico to convert to organic viticulture, Coltibuono is focused on traditional viticultural practices with massale selection, indigenous yeasts, dry farming, increasing biodiversity, minimizing tilling, using compost in the vineyards and less green harvesting.
