From the first whiff the Vat 8 waves the flag of Tyrrell’s and the Hunter Valley. Cola, blackcurrant, blackberry, cinnamon, coffee, milk chocolate, clove and violets. Full bodied, plush and lifted by Christmas cake spice and crunchy red fruits. Luxurious and round, with ripe tannins and soft acids. The most digestible Vat 8 of recent years. Waters Wine Co
A quintessential domestic blend. The southern French have been doing it for quite some time too. The one top wine still assembled in small barriques. These impart a clear high note of bitter chocolate, mocha and vanilla-espresso. Otherwise, blackcurrant, lilac, anise, graphite and fecund Hunter earth. Terracotta tannins, long and emphatic, auguring well for a long life. Lots of adolescent fruit and jangly structural ribs. These will gel in time. 93 Points – Ned Goodwin, Halliday Wine Companion

Hands down, the best value bistro wine we have tasted from anywhere. Sweet and tangy compote of red, blue and black fruits. Super bright palate, juicy, with gentle spice, refreshing acidity, silky mouthfeel and a squeeze of powdery tannins. Utterly drinkable, versatile and there’s a serious side too. Absolute bargain. Waters Wine Co Organic. Marcoux’s […]
Add to cartA great makeup of majority grenache (62%) with a smattering of shiraz, mataro and cinsault, reminiscent of a classic southern Rhône blend, albeit, with a lighter touch. As good, too. Effusive blue- and red-fruit allusions teem along rails of gentle tannins, a burr of whole-bunch spice as seasoning. A sweep of maritime salinity at the […]
Add to cartA very different expression this year, 2023 being cool and wet; rounder, softer and juicier. Blackberry, cassis, plum, dark cherry and raspberry, with a savoury squeeze of fennel, bay leaf and dried flowers. Is there an evolution in style, or is it the vintage? I’m thinking the latter. The more gentle structure a product of […]
Add to cart Producer: Traviarti“Deep, brooding purple-red colour with a concentrated berry fruit bouquet laced with cedar, violets and dried herbs, gorgeous fruit and classy oak embellishment. The wine is full bodied and powerful, with a generous serving of fine grained tannins that add length, authority and a drying but supple finish. Tremendous persistence and wonderful structure. A great […]
