Always the most accessible wine from the Tyrrell’s premium wine stable. Sumptuous aromas of blueberry, plums, blackcurrant, and dark cherries. The palate lives up to the promise of the nose. Rich and full bodied with saturated black, blue and red fruits. Plenty of chocolate and vanilla from the oak, though not overdone. The Vat 8 Shiraz Cabernet is Tyrrell’s more ‘modern’ wine. The tannins are riper and less angular, compared to the other releases and there’s a lovely line of rapier like acidity. Beautifully cut curves. WWC June 2019
….. the wine is full-bodied and well-endowed with sweet fruit, supple tannins and again those smoky, charcoal nuances riding over it all… A thoroughly delicious wine, very much a shiraz and very regional in style. 95 Points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review
The Shiraz is sourced from the Ashmans property and the Cabernet Sauvignon grown on Pokolbin Hills Estate. Both parcels of wine were matured separately for 11 months before blending. The blended wine finished its maturation in French oak barriques for a further 6 months before bottling.

A vibrant high-toned nose of wild raspberries and stewed blueberries is supported by a fresh and crunchy palate and long soft tannins. Translucent red fruits are the hallmark of this wine, combined with savoury, spicy notes from the Meunier component and fresh cherry pip acidity on the finish. Winemaker’s Notes Shop ALL Stargazer
Add to cart Producer: Stargazer“Deep, brooding purple-red colour with a concentrated berry fruit bouquet laced with cedar, violets and dried herbs, gorgeous fruit and classy oak embellishment. The wine is full bodied and powerful, with a generous serving of fine grained tannins that add length, authority and a drying but supple finish. Tremendous persistence and wonderful structure. A great […]
Add to cart Producer: Te MataThis is a complex and powerful edition of this estate-grown grenache with aromas of red and dark berries, ginger bread and toasted spices, as well as wild herbs. The palate offers vibrantly fleshy style with impressive concentration of raspberry and blueberry flavors. Fresh, with structure and drive. Drink over the next eight years. 94 points […]
Add to cart Producer: YangarraA great makeup of majority grenache (62%) with a smattering of shiraz, mataro and cinsault, reminiscent of a classic southern Rhône blend, albeit, with a lighter touch. As good, too. Effusive blue- and red-fruit allusions teem along rails of gentle tannins, a burr of whole-bunch spice as seasoning. A sweep of maritime salinity at the […]
