Always the most accessible wine from the Tyrrell’s premium wine stable. Sumptuous aromas of blueberry, plums, blackcurrant, and dark cherries. The palate lives up to the promise of the nose. Rich and full bodied with saturated black, blue and red fruits. Plenty of chocolate and vanilla from the oak, though not overdone. The Vat 8 Shiraz Cabernet is Tyrrell’s more ‘modern’ wine. The tannins are riper and less angular, compared to the other releases and there’s a lovely line of rapier like acidity. Beautifully cut curves. WWC June 2019
….. the wine is full-bodied and well-endowed with sweet fruit, supple tannins and again those smoky, charcoal nuances riding over it all… A thoroughly delicious wine, very much a shiraz and very regional in style. 95 Points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review
The Shiraz is sourced from the Ashmans property and the Cabernet Sauvignon grown on Pokolbin Hills Estate. Both parcels of wine were matured separately for 11 months before blending. The blended wine finished its maturation in French oak barriques for a further 6 months before bottling.

A vibrant high-toned nose of wild raspberries and stewed blueberries is supported by a fresh and crunchy palate and long soft tannins. Translucent red fruits are the hallmark of this wine, combined with savoury, spicy notes from the Meunier component and fresh cherry pip acidity on the finish. Winemaker’s Notes Shop ALL Stargazer
