Always the most accessible wine from the Tyrrell’s premium wine stable. Sumptuous aromas of blueberry, plums, blackcurrant, and dark cherries. The palate lives up to the promise of the nose. Rich and full bodied with saturated black, blue and red fruits. Plenty of chocolate and vanilla from the oak, though not overdone. The Vat 8 Shiraz Cabernet is Tyrrell’s more ‘modern’ wine. The tannins are riper and less angular, compared to the other releases and there’s a lovely line of rapier like acidity. Beautifully cut curves. WWC June 2019
….. the wine is full-bodied and well-endowed with sweet fruit, supple tannins and again those smoky, charcoal nuances riding over it all… A thoroughly delicious wine, very much a shiraz and very regional in style. 95 Points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review
The Shiraz is sourced from the Ashmans property and the Cabernet Sauvignon grown on Pokolbin Hills Estate. Both parcels of wine were matured separately for 11 months before blending. The blended wine finished its maturation in French oak barriques for a further 6 months before bottling.

The stamp of Marcoux is on all their reds, and it’s a delight to taste them together. The flavour and textural profiles are similar, and here we have the pinnacle; deeper, concentrated, woven complexity and lacy structure. Vivid and intense, with an immediate presence. Extremely complex nose of red fruits, brambly fruit, petrichor, campfire, violets […]
Add to cartA blend of 60/22/9/9% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/cabernet franc/petit verdot. Several different parcels of grape varieties, but all wines were pressed to French oak barriques (36% new) for 15 months. While Italian grapes are making headway in Beechworth, this wine reminds you of the classic beauty to be found in the region’s French grapes. The fineness and […]
Add to cartHands down, the best value bistro wine we have tasted from anywhere. Sweet and tangy compote of red, blue and black fruits. Super bright palate, juicy, with gentle spice, refreshing acidity, silky mouthfeel and a squeeze of powdery tannins. Utterly drinkable, versatile and there’s a serious side too. Absolute bargain. Waters Wine Co Organic. Marcoux’s […]
Add to cartFrom the first whiff the Vat 8 waves the flag of Tyrrell’s and the Hunter Valley. Cola, blackcurrant, blackberry, cinnamon, coffee, milk chocolate, clove and violets. Full bodied, plush and lifted by Christmas cake spice and crunchy red fruits. Luxurious and round, with ripe tannins and soft acids. The most digestible Vat 8 of recent […]
