A mild ripening season provided the mid weight frame we have been seeking and with the blend now roughly 65% Nebbiolo, 35% Barbera it hits the balance of savoury and fruitfulness. For us this is ideal early drinking and ready for the table now!
Beechworth blend of Nebbiolo (two-thirds) and Barbera. First release that hasn’t included some cabernet. Juicy, joyous, fruity, delicious, all those things. Love the shape of this, the perfume, the accessibility and yet, at the same time, the suggestion that it just has that extra something. Simon Grant, the man behind it, calls it “fine and savoury yet soft and accessible”. True that. There’s a perfumed, jubey fruit sweetness sitting front and centre in the wine but then there are all these other contributors. Lovely. 92 Points – Campbell Mattinson, The Winefront
