This saucy McLaren Vale red is sourced from eight core vineyards and this vintage is 54% Cabernet and 46% Shiraz. The vine age varies between 9 and 35 years. After up to ten days on skins the juice is pressed to neutral French barriques (30%) and stainless steel (70%) for a ten-month maturation. The Cabernet provides the acidity and elongated tannin giving the supple Shiraz shape and structure. There’s lovely fleshy fruit that floods the mouth and glides across the palate. Then there’s excellent, cool, fresh acidity and tannins balancing the wine’s sweet fruit from the long, cool growing season.
