This year we’ve got 87% Barbera and 13% Nebbiolo. Barbera, as a variety, makes perfect sense, ticks all the right boxes: It grows almost anywhere; chemically, it’s an easy wine to make as it has a great acid balance; and It doesn’t require any bells and whistles like new oak, bunches or time in the cellar to work itself out. It leans toward more savoury characters rather than being a fruit bomb, and then you put all that with a great lick of acid and couple it with those fine powdery Nebbiolo tannins, it just works. This year, all the fruit was hand-harvested and given the whole-berry treatment and a cold soak. It had a wild ferment and three weeks on skins before it was pressed to four- or five-year-old French barriques. After seven months on lees it was bottled unfiltered. Winemaker’s Notes

The 2016 Château Saint Georges has a straight forward but attractive smoke and cigar box tinged bouquet with ample black fruit. The palate is medium bodied with sappy black fruit, well integrated oak, well judged acidity and a poised and elegant finish. What a delicious Château Saint Georges this should be, one that should give […]
Add to cart Producer: Chateau St GeorgesOf all the wines that Swinney produces, the Mourvedre Syrah Grenache blend is the hardest to sell. Rob Mann’s favourite wine in the range, and its easy to see why. It would be a mistake to think that it takes a little of the Syrah and a little of the Grenache, mix in the Mourvedre […]
Add to cart Producer: SwinneyDomaine Overnoy has made another stunning Rougissime in 2019. This is how all the reds were made in the Southern Jura back in the day, all together. The Overnoy‘s did and this wine is 80% Trousseau and the rest is Pinot Noir and Ploussard. This is a very attractive wine – little wild strawberries on the […]
